Pray it forward

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen is credited with the following quote “The world is just one generation away from the death of the Church”. Sadly, I believe he is still correct.

Today, January 5th, 2021, we had yet another funeral at my home Church. Although we have not been overly afflicted by the Corona Virus Pandemic, we are afflicted with age. The clock continues to tick for us all and it is the same for many of our churches.

The great commission, given by Jesus to His followers in Matthew 28, “Go and make disciples of all nations” must be the focus of our Churches and our individual ministries. For if we miss out on one generation who does not believe, it could spell the death christianity.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Glenn, whom we laid to rest today. He was a husband, father and grandfather to a beautiful family. He was a WWII Veteran who served his country. He was also a good and faithful servant to our Lord and Savior. He served his Church by devoting his time, talent and treasure to furthering it’s ministries. He is a dying breed.

My hope and prayer is that we raise up a generation of those who will carry on a life of devotion and servanthood. That our Churches stand the test of time and pressures from the outside world. That they open their doors and bring people in and continue growing the Kingdom of God. For if we fail to teach our children who Jesus is, the world will teach them that He doesn’t matter.

UPDATE on Tim and Tina from “Tim, Tina And A Bowl Of Stew”. They are on the road back to their hometown to stay with friends. This area was not what God had in mind for them. Please continue to pray for them to get back on their feet and thank you!

God bless you,

Father Jason Bowden
