All You Need Is…Dove

A global pandemic. Lay offs. Alcohol and drug use. A divide government. Social Media fights. If these were topics given to you on a game show, you might answer “What is the United States of America”. Doesn’t sound very united if you ask me. Days go by and just can be too much. You know what? Let’s just flip the world the bird. No, not your middle finger. You have more class than that. After all, you are a Christ carrier. You know, the one who defeated death. Yeah, Him.

What the world needs right now is a good dose of the Holy Spirit, and today many of us celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of Christ. It’s a celebration of the day Jesus was baptized by John. The day that Jesus rose from the water and the Heavens opened and the Holy Spirit descended on Him like a dove. The start of his public ministry. No if you were baptized with water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you have received Him as well. Jesus’ baptism is recounted in all four Gospels, however in one of the four, Luke, we are told what Jesus was doing as he came up. Stop, do you know what is was? He was praying.

It’s cute for me to say “I don’t have all the answers, I just point to the guy who does”, however, it’s not enough anymore. We must act upon the gift that we have received. By this time kids are starting to lose interest in some, if not all, of their Christmas presents. We can no longer neglect ours.

Pray. Pray for peace, guidance, wisdom and the courage to do something with it. Show the world the peace, joy and love you have been given. You may not not how just yet, but tapping into the power of the Holy Spirit that lives within you, through prayer and obedience, can unleash a peace and a power we cannot imagine the strength of. It is God’s gifts that he gives to all who believe.

God bless you
