3 Little Words

43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.” 44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote —Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip. -John 1:43-46

Ministering. Reaching people for the kingdom of God. Bringing them into the fold. Reaching people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Not everyone can be reached by our witness. All are lead to God by the same spirit, but Not all come to him in the same way. Still, it is the call of every christian to share what Jesus has done in our lives with everyone.

Some come to God through tragedy. The loss of a loved one like a child, a spouse or a parent can cause is to seek. Some come through survival like when they cannot overcome an addiction or loss of a job. Some are witnessed to, which is where we come in. But how do you know what to say? Will fear of being denied keep you from trying?

In the passage above from John, we see the account of Philip and Nathanael. Now Philip, as we can see, comes to follow Jesus directly by being called. Nathanael, on the other hand, is then witnessed to by Philip. When Nathanael retorts “Can anything good come from Nazareth?”. Philip answers with 3 perfect words, “Come and see”.

When you are given the opportunity to witness to someone, and you can’t find the words, remember our brother Philip and just use his 3 little words, “Come and see”

God bless you
