What You Looking At?

Romans 15:13,
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Two young boys are walking to school. One little boy looks at the other, seeing a giant grin on his face and says “ You sure do seem happy about going to school today. What’s gotten into you?”.

Without hesitation the joy filled boy says “Well, I don’t want to brag but, I just found out that God himself is my Grandpa.”

“How did you find that out?” Inquires the first young lad.

“Well, my Mom asked my Dad to pray at dinner last night and he spilled the beans.”

“How’s that?” Says the first.

“Right outta the gate he started the prayer with ‘Father God’”.

Just a cute little story to make you smile.

Take a sheet of blank paper and pen. Draw a little black circle in the middle of the paper. What do you see? Hang it on the wall and ask others what they see. Bet their first response is “A small black circle”.

We, as children of a loving creator, so focused on negativity, stress at work, worry about finances and the safety of our families can often times miss the light around us. Just like everything other than that little black circle. Being consumed by darkness and fear, we miss all the beauty that God bring us.

Today I wish for you to try something different. When stress and worry start to creep in, close your eyes and take a deep breath, and say in your head “Jesus” on the inhale and think “Christ” on the exhale. Now open your eyes. See if, after this exercise, you stop focusing on the darkness and start seeing the beauty around you. I bet it works.

God bless you
